I… don’t really like that idea. But what exactly is the fee going to be? Like, will it be the same price as the game? Or cheaper? ‘Cause… if it’s cheaper, that would be good for everyone, right? You get the goddamn game forever. Admittedly, I can’t imagine they’d do that because they’d LOSE money, but… I’m not quite ready to boycott Xbox because it’s always done right by me, as a gamer, before.

Microshite, you just signed your own death warrant.

Holy shit. [TW:RAPE]

There are moments when The Onion’s commentary misfire badly, and then there are moments like this where the nail is hit squarely on the head.

ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, Fox News Channel, MSNBC, and CNN all covered the Steubenville rape case and subsequent trial/sentencing in an all-too-similar way to this video: they focused solely on the two rapists who raped, drugged, and sexually assaulted a 16-year-old West Virginia girl. Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN went so far as to air the name of the rape victim, a procedure unheard of in national and international journalism.

The sport of football was focused on more than the rape. The rapists were portrayed as innocent bystanders who just happened to make a wrong decision the night of the rape, like they were completely divorced of all responsibility for their actions.

People consistently continue to wonder why rapes continue to exist, and why rape culture, rape enablism, rape apologism, and rape sympathization continues to occur. The answer lies in the way rape and sexual assault are discussed to our teenagers. The completely wrong ideas are imprinted onto young minds, ideas such as “girls are asking to be raped when they dress provocatively,” or “rape isn’t rape unless it is forced.” Unwanted sexual advances of any form are rape. RAPE IS RAPE, simple as that.

Congratulations, American news networks. You’ve continued to instill a negative perception on rapes and how they are reported. When rape is discussed, NEVER make the rapists sound better than the victims. NEVER take the side of the rapist, especially in remarking about their sports achievements. NEVER enable rapists to think that they will never be condemned for their actions. NEVER attempt to divorce the rapist’s age from their actions. NEVER shame or blame the victim(s) of rape or sexual assault. Most of all, ALWAYS remind the viewers of news segments or readers of news articles that the victim is the only individual who matters in a discussion about rape. The victim is the main reason there is a story in the first place. A rape cannot occur with only one person involved. There are always two or more people. Yes, the rapists will have difficulties dealing with their actions. DON’T EMPATHIZE OR SYMPATHIZE WITH THEM!!!

My boycott of all cable and network news programs is still on, until the news networks promise to never shame victims of domestic violence, rape, or sexual assault. I fear that the apologies will never come, seeing as sensationalism rules the day.

Blogs are the last form of true journalism in America. Let’s not mess that up as well!

Tashiro-jima (or Tashirojima), 田代島, is a small island in Japan. It has become known as “Cat Island” due to the large stray cat population that thrives as a result of the local belief that feeding cats will bring wealth and good fortune. The cat population is now larger than the human population on the island.

There is a small cat shrine Neko-jinja (猫神社?) in the middle of the island, roughly situated between the two villages. In the past, the islanders raised silkworms for silk, and cats were kept in order to keep the mouse population down (because mice are a natural predator of silkworms). Fixed-net fishing was popular on the island after the Edo Period and fishermen from other areas would come and stay on the island overnight. The cats would go to the inns where the fishermen were staying and beg for scraps. Over time, the fishermen developed a fondness for the cats and would observe the cats closely, interpreting their actions as predictions of the weather and fish patterns. One day, when the fishermen were collecting rocks to use with the fixed-nets, a stray rock fell and killed one of the cats. The fishermen, feeling sorry for the loss of the cat, buried it and enshrined it at this location on the island.

There are at least ten cat shrines in Miyagi Prefecture. There are also 51 stone monuments in the shape of cats.

This is Sam.

Sam is a 9yr old tabby cat.

He currently lives at a shelter near Dallas, Texas.
He isn’t up for adoption. He belongs to the shelter, and is introduced as the boss.

But…due to a recent situation, Sam now needs a new home.
Unfortunately we cannot place him up for adoption, so our only options are staff finding him a home, or euthanasia.

I, unfortunately, have too many animals to take Sam, as well as the other staff who work for the shelter.

Please, if you know anyone who’s interested in a cat, please send this their way.
Even if you don’t, please signal boost it!

Here’s some information about Sam.

  • He is neutered.
  • He is vaccinated for all of this shots, including Rabies.
  • He is declawed. (front paws only)
  • He loves human attention.
  • He does not get along with other animals. Only people.
  • He is litter box trained.

Please contact me likelytofail if you are interested, or know someone who is.

Even if you do not, please signal boost this so it may reach the right person.
